Heroes of Monmouth

Memorials of soldiers who gave their life at the Battle of Monmouth during the American Revolution. The battle took place on June 28, 1778 on fields and orchards located in Manalapan Township and Freehold, New Jersey. It was said to be one of the hottest days on record. Many troops died of fatigue from the heat. A mass grave was dug somewhere on the battlefield, possibly near Tennent Church.
