Fairview Cemetery
Also known as Havelock Cemetery
Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, USA
Wyuka Cemetery
3600 O Street
Lincoln, Nebraska 68510
In 1894, The Nebraska Christian Education Board sold land to the city of Havelock which became Fairview Cemetery. With the annexation of Havelock by Lincoln in 1930, Fairview became the responsibility of the Lincoln City Park and Recreation Department. In 1996, Wyuka Cemetery, one of Lincoln's primary cemeteries, took over the management of Fairview.
It is an active, well-maintained, country-style cemetery with a mixed-use mausoleum/ columbarium, a smaller columbarium-only structure, and 26 sections. There are no gates at the entrances, one on Adams Street and one on 84th Street, so visits can be made any time of the day and any day of the year. The grounds are mostly level/ slightly rolling and the paths are paved. Most of the grave sites are visible, if not reachable, from a position which is wheel-chair accessible.
The joint Wyuka/Fairview website contains section maps and features an online search for burial record information. As stated, "Nearly all" records are online.
There is no on-site cemetery office at Fairview. Those functions are handled by Wyuka Cemetery whose hours of operation are detailed on the website.
