This is a now non-existent cemetery. It was the second Catholic cemetery in Cincinnati. The land was purchased on April 30, 1828, by the bishop. The cemetery was closed in 1843, and the land was sold in 1867. Supposedly, the graves were moved by then. But, in chapter XL "Cemeteries" on page 376 of the 1881 book "History of Cincinnati Ohio with Illustrations" complied by Henry A Ford et al., the book reported that the cemetery "is yet marked with an inside enclosure of iron fence, containing some graves". The same book identifies Catherine Street Burying Ground as being on Court Street between Wesley Avenue and Mound Street. An 1868 Cincinnati Atlas shows that the cemetery lies between Court Street (southern boundary) and Clark Street (on the north with the cemetery not reaching Clark Street itself) and straddles Cutter Street with Kossuth Street (now approximately Ruhr Way) as the western boundary and the Methodist Burying Ground (which was also closed in 1843) as the eastern boundary. The Catherine Street Burying Ground and the Methodist Burying Ground occupy the land between Cutter Street and Wesley Avenue. Mound Street is the next street east of Wesley Avenue. Today, the Hays Porter Elementary School occupies the block between Cutter Street and Wesley Avenue where both the Catherine Street Burying Ground and the Methodist Burying Ground were located. Residential housing now occupies the area that was the portion of the Catherine Street Burying Ground on the west side of Cutter Street.
