In 2021, The Texas Historical commission certified this cemetery as a Historic Texas Cemetery. Texas Historical Commission No. TV-C135.
Tarleton & Youngs migrated to the Eanes area after the Civil War, families from poor pioneer days stock of independent-minded and high-spirted individuals known as hillbillies or Cedar Choppers. Granny Abbie Lawrence Tarleton and John Gilman Tarleton Homesteaded Tarleton land December 22, 1869. John Gilman Webster Tarleton died 1897 and was First to be buried in the Tarleton Cemetery, Cemetery was established in 1897. Cemetery is located on Loop 360 near Walsh-Tarleton Lane. It has 36 marked graves and countless unmarked graves from Late 1800's. Members of the Young and Tarleton families are buried here. It is privately maintained and was established prior to 1900. The oldest grave found recorded in History books is for John Thomas "Tom" Young, the last hanging in Williamson County in 1906 and it was recorded in history books that he was laid to rest next to his mother. Also U.S Army PFC Howard Issac Hamilton who served in World War ll is laid to rest here.
