The Original Cemetery Gate

The walls of this church building (pictured) were the original walls of the very First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building in The Missouri Territory. It was originally built by John Milligan ll (son of John Milligan 1st of Triadelphia, West Virginia) at the Milligan Campground in neighboring Sharp County in 1823. The Reverend John Milligan was "licensed to Preach" by the Cumberland Presbytery in 1826. Later, in 1910, when the Church building at the Milligan Campground had out grown it's usefulnes, it was sold. The Walls were taken down and moved to the Lebanon Persbyterian Church and Cemetery in Lynn, Arkansas (Just outside of Powhatten) to make way for the Milligan Campground's new church (2nd building) that was built in 1910 and served the congregation there until 1946. Only the original John Milligan Walls are left of the old Church at Lynn, Arkansas now and a new roof was added to this structure.

This is the Current Church Building at the CampGround. It was built in 1946 after men started comming home from WW II. The walls of this building are made of native sandstone and many of the Original gravestones in the cemetery were also made of native sandstone and is primarily why there aren't many of the original stones existing today. It is said that there are over 100 graves in the Milligan Campground Cemetery that there is no longer any record of at all.
