Add PhotosSt. Micheal, Crooked Lane was a parish church located in Candlewick Ward of the City of London. Believed to have been in existence as early as 1304, it was originally a small church. It was rebuilt on a larger scale and became on of the 13 peculiarities in the City of London belonging to the Archbishop of Canterbury. The first cases of the Plague were found in this parish in 1665. The church was rebuilt by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of 1666. The parish was united with St. Magnus the Martyr when the church was demolished in 1831 to make way for the approaches needed for the rebuilt London Bridge. A stained glass window within St. Magnus honors the former parish. Other monuments from St. Michael can be found at St. Mark's Church, Kennington.
