This is the only entry to this small cemetery, which is actually located in a busy and crowded suburban area.

This is an odd little cemetery sandwiched between two streets and businesses on either end. A local funeral home furnished the name Monterey Cemetery. It is located roughly at Monterey and Kanner in Stuart. Many stones are broken or unreadable.

The Layout for Moores Cemetery. Moore's Cemetery is located between Seville Street and Monterey Road in Stuart, with several access gates on Seville. The cemetery was Stuart's original black cemetery. Information on the cemetery is sketchy and some of the burials are unfortunately lost to time and bad record keeping. We may never know how many unmarked graves were lost under Monterey Road and Seville Street, the concrete of their adjacent sidewalks, or even the nearby 7-Eleven and the gated community behind the wall on the north side of whats left of the cemetery.It is interesting to note that there is a marker on the north side of Seville Street dedicated to those unmarked grave sites that, according to Mr. McHardy, were displaced or covered up during the widening of Monterey Boulevard. No record of these grave sites could be found. The earliest burial appears to be c1918 and there are approximately 257 marked grave sites.
