Presently, the cemetery is completely wooded. In addition to the natural vegetation, there are several ornamental plants still growing in the cemetery. A large cedar tree is particularly prominent and small yucca plants are growing along the northern boundary. There is a sparse covering of periwinkle throughout the cemetery. Remnants of a wire fence indicate the cemetery was once clearly marked.
Directions: The Furlong Cemetery location is found on the map in the national park brochure handed out to all visitors at the park Visitor Center. The closest place to leave your car is the picnic/parking area at Sloans Crossing Pond Walk, also shown on the park brochure. From there it is approximately a one mile walk north along the wide and flat Bike & Hike Trail and a cemetery spur trail. The route is simple and straightforward and you reach a "Y split" with a sign indicating the bike path is about to become steeply graded. The bike path itself continues on the right hand side of the "Y", but you veer to the left trail to reach the cemetery. There is a bench and a park info sign when you reach the cemetery.
