In 1833, pioneering families from the area formed a Presbyterian Church. The first church structure, a log building, was built in 1835 on landed donated by James Fraser. A frame church was built in 1848. By 1883 a committee was formed to look into erecting a new church. The result was the beautiful stone church, built in 1884, which is still in use today.
In 1926, the church welcomed Rev Ewen Macdonald as their minister. Ewen's wife was the famous Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. The couple lived in the manse beside the church building until Ewen's retirement in 1935.
The cemetery adjacent to the church is still open for burials. There is a burial register.
Note to GPS Users: Please use the coordinates in the Find A Grave map; they are correct. The church website explains that if you use the address of the church, you end up somewhere on 8th Line which is no where near the church. However, if you use this as the destination address - 16789 Main Street, Halton Hills, ON - it takes you straight to the church.
