Sweet-Austin Lot #86
Location: Shermantown Road in the yard of #240. Lot is approached by a drive at the left of the house. After passing a second house, lot lies in field to the left opposite a six foot stump of an utility pole and is overrun with long grass. No enclosure, no sign of vandalism. Only two marked stones.
Samuel Sweet,-d. Nov. 26, 1728, 62y. Sl., flaked; FS-Samuel Sweet
Mary Austion-d. Jan. 31, 1763, 45y. Sl., crudely marked
Harris remarked on his survey on Feb 20, 1880 that he had counted 80 graves, 20 of which he took to be children marked by rude stones only. This was unable to be verified because of the vegetation, although a few old stones were located.
Arnold placed this lot "in the field of the old home of Benoni (3) & James (2) Sweet." Samuel was also numbered as (3). He says that Samuel Lawton told him "Mary Austin's daughter An[s]tiss and David Northup (son of Susannah Gardner Northup) were buried in the adjacent field. We could not find them."
Arnold:
Mary, wife of John Austin's Children were:
Plivus and Pavis Anstiss, married 2nd Northup
Paulus & Prisimus Eunice
Parcis and Pikus Lettice
(spellin uncertain)
Elizabeth, 2nd [?} wife of John Austin, children:
Manley Elizabeth
John Ruth
