Old Friendship M.P. Church Cemetery
Also known as Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery , Old Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery
Worcester County, Maryland, USA
The church is on Meadow Bridge Rd. in or near West Post Office. The construction of the building is attributed to Jones Bounds and William Dykes in 1866 and is in the Italianate and Greek Revival styles of architecture.
Meadowbridge Road is the dividing line between Worcester and Somerset Counties, MD. The church structure with cemetery sits on the north side of Meadowbridge Road, thus it is in Worcester County. A lot of the people buried in the cemetery lived in Somerset County, which is just across the road. This road is just wide enough to accommodate one car going each E-W direction and barely that. Just down Meadowbridge Road heading east, yet another county intersects. This happened because this whole area was once Somerset County; then Worcester was formed in 1742 out of Somerset and then Wicomico (not really germane to this letter) was formed out of parts of both Somerset and Worcester. So the geography in this particular section is confusing to anyone who does not live here. Plus this whole area is rural.
