According to The History of Eden Mills (by Hazel Mack, 1954), a Methodist Chapel was built on this site in 1844, on land donated by William Martin. The chapel stood on the left side of the property, facing the road, and was constructed of cedar logs. The site included a burying ground.
The chapel was closed in 1862 when the minister was unable to provide services at a time convenient to the congregation. The building, long neglected, was moved to a neighbouring farm around 1900.
The cemetery's earliest burial inscription is 4 January 1846, and the latest is for George Martin in 1898 (although his family Bible shows 2 February 1899). Apparently no burial records have survived.
The surviving gravestones have been mounted on a sloping concrete pad. As a result of weathering, moss and lichen, many of the stones are now illegible.
The cemetery is maintained by the Town of Milton.
