CATHAY CEMETERY

Location: From the Junction of Hwy 69 and Texanna Rd, East 3 tenths of a mile and south less than 1 tenth of a mile located on the east side of the road.

Believed to be an African American Cemetery!

Cathay cemetery was named after the small town of Cathay located 4 miles north of Eufuala. Over the years the cemetery has been called Cathay, Cathey & Cathy cemetery. However the orginal spelling of Cathay is the most correct after the community & school that was located in the area as well as the name on a 1915 map of Oklahoma.

A small cemetery called Cathy was moved to the fishertown cemetery when the lake was being built. The moved Cathy cemetery is not to be confused with this Cathay/Cathey/Cathy cemetery that has not been moved.
