Note: The following has been taken from the Historic Sign at Trappe. "Crosiadore" originally patented in 1659 as "Croisdower", 1667 as "Crois Dowe Marsh, and 1695 as "Crosedore Addition". John Dickinson was born here in 1732. He was the author of (1768) "Letters from a farmer in Pennsylvania to the inhabitants of the British Colonies." "Crosiadore" was still (1938) in the Dickinson family. In 1738, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. was named for John Dickinson.
