This cemetery was founded September 1, 2009 as a "green" alternative to traditional cemeteries. It is located on a private family farm that is double zoned as both a cemetery and a nature reserve. To remain environmentally friendly , it does not allow concrete, steel and toxic chemicals. Due to the toxicity of embalming fluid, embalmed bodies are not accepted for burial in this cemetery. Biodegradable caskets are available; however, caskets are not required. The deceased may be buried instead in a biodegradable shroud.

The cemetery is on private property, so visits must be arranged in advance by contacting the office at (803) 568-5552.
