In 1834 trustees were appointed for building a Methodist Meeting House on Eastaboga Road 1/4 mile north of Choccolocco Creek upon land owned by James Montgomery (1797-1878) of Indian Hill Plantation. The land was given to the church trustees for as long as it was to be used for purpose of worship. It was to return to the Montgomery estate when, and if, it was ever abandoned as a Methodist Meeting House. James Montgomery gave the surrounding plantation to his daughter R. Eveline (1827-1860) as her dowry when she married H. C. Lane (1823-1854). The Lanes built a home on the hill above the meeting house, and their only son John Henry became a valuable member of Owens Spring Church. The church graveyard was on the hill in front of the Lane homestead. As the community population grew smaller the membership was transferred in the early 1900's to McFall Methodist Church, which in turn moved its membership to Craig Memorial Church in 1926. Information for this description was taken from "Historic Tales of Talladega" by E. Grace Jemison, c. 1993 (3rd Edition), The Gregath Company.
In 1984 there were four graves, all marked with a headstone or graveslab, reported to be in this cemetery. The current landowner reports that a road crew has since graded the hill along the road/power line easement and destroyed gravestone(s). The broken pieces have been stacked around the base of a tree within the thicket containing the cemetery, and the placement of a fence around the site is being considered.
Three of the four grave markers noted in 1984 are still intact, as well as fragments of a fourth. The partial surname on the fragmented stone is not that of the fourth known interment, however, and two or more oblong depressions also indicate additional unmarked graves.
