Add PhotosThe old Ebenezer Cemetery is located in the Pikeview - Ebenezer community on the Atwell farm about a mile or so from the present day Ebenezer Church. There, in a very peaceful forest, stood the first Ebenezer Church and the first burial grounds of its members. Some say as many as 120 persons were buried there. Volume 1 (1981) book of the
CEMETERIES OF GREEN COUNTY list 40 to 50 fieldstones and five marked graves. Two of the graves belong to Civil War veterans: William E. Paxton (he was married to Mary Jane Heizer) and J. W. Paxton. Both served with Company G, 13 Kentucky Infantry. There is a stone with a "W" saying death date of 1828. James Harris and his wife Mary Ann had
stones(1981). James died 1798 and Mary died 1816.
Recently I visited the cemetery and could only find the two Paxton stones and a few field stones. Anyone wishing directions to this cemetery my email me privately.
