The Defore Cemetery is a private family cemetery, located in dense woods about 1/4 mile off the Old Federal Road, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia. It is on a rustic foot path behind a locked gate. There is a 'private, no trespassing sign' at the gate and it is accessible only through family permission. As a neice of one of the persons buried there, I was, graciously, accompanied up the path and given permission to photograph the graves. There are many graves there but most of them are only marked with field stones and some of these stones are covered by undergrowth and leaves. My escort to the site, Mr. John Harris, says there are likely to be Native American graves there also.

There is some thought that many years ago this cemetery might have been called / connected to the Old Parrott Cemetery in the area as some of the burials are listed in both cemeteries.(ISL)
