Bryant Place Cemetery

Former family cemetery of Maj. Benjamin F. Bryant and his wife. The state of Texas disenterned the couple and moved them to the Texas State Cemetery in 1931. Local lore, for whatever reason, has made up several stories about the location and even added a grave.
"Body of Maj. Ben Bryant to be Buried in Texas Cemetery: Noted Texas Patriot's Body Will Be Taken To Austin: For 74 years the body of Maj. Benjamin F. Bryant has been resting in the soil of Milam County, buried in the pasture grave on a farm near Bryant Station.
A movement instituted some years ago and guided by the patriotic interest of L. W. Kemp has resulted in the location of th egraves of many patriots who lie buried in isolated Texas Communities. Their bodies are being removed to the Capital of Texas and there buried in a cemetery set aside by the state for patriotic dead..........
....Major Bryant was born March 15, 1800 and died at Bryant Station March 24, 1857 and buried there. His wife, Rexana Bryant was born in 1802 and died November 10, 1874.....
