Located three miles southeast of Columbia, near Rider's Creek. The Church was constituted in 1824 and had 27 members. The last member, Mrs. Nellie Holadia Barnes, died in 2000. Originally known as "Sound Side", it was renamed "Bethlehem" in 1846. The church building dates from 1844, and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Tyrrell County. In 1997, The Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Preservation Society was formed as a non-profit group to preserve the historic building and records.
