Alter Urnenfriedhof Eichhof
As the name indicates, an Urnenfriedhof is for burials of urns or the spreading of ashes only, no caskets. The city of Kiel has two of them, right next to one another and in close proximity of the "Parkfriedhof Eichhof" in the district of Schreventeich. Both are managed by the city of Kiel. The two parts of the urn cemetery are listed separately on Findagrave as old and new:

The "Alter Urnenfriedhof" was built from 1912-1916 in order to facilitate a burial ground right next to the crematorium and in the beginning was rather small. As soon as 1919 the area had to be enlarged to keep up with the ever so growing popularity of cremation, rather than the usual burial in caskets. Another area was added in 1925 and again in 1927. At that time two small gardeners' homes at the entrance gate were built, where full-time gardeners and their families were living. The old urn cemetery was enlarged for the final time in 1936. There was no more room to extend the cemetery due to houses having been built around it. The city then acquired another property across the street in 1974 and the "Neuer Urnenfriedhof" was opened.
The old part also has an area for premature or still-births, known as "Sternenkinder" (Children of the Stars). There is a small war grave section with 6 burials. The city's old animal (pet) cemetery is incorporated into the area of the "Alter Urnenfriedhof" as well.
The crematory offers two halls for services and memorials which seat 40 people, or 250 respectively.
The new one does not have any war graves or memorials.
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (10-25 years in Kiel) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse can decompose naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period, the duration can be extended by another 10-25 years (once) in Kiel. Otherwise, the grave will be leveled and reused, the marker then used as gravel in road construction. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever. Also, the town or owner of the cemetery might find a grave of historical significance and will protect and keep it indefinitely.
