Translating from historian Marcel Fournier; "Following the Conquest (1759) the first British dead would have been buried in non-consecrated grounds in the garden of the Catholique curée of Notre-Dame-de-Quebec parish located on rue de Buade." That old cemtery of Quebec has been taken out of service, even though memorialized here on Find-a-Grave. The remains are reported to have been removed to the ossuaries beneath the Notre Dame de Quebec Basilica.
"Starting from 1768, the British protestants used the grounds to the south of the bastion of the St. Louis gate to bury their dead. It was the reverend David Francis of Montmollin, the new minister of the Anglican Chuch at Quebec, who administered to the burials starting from August 14, 1768. The last burial in this cemetery took place November 2, 1772. Over the course of this period, 84 burials took place in this old/former cemetery. Among the graves of the Port St. Louis cemetery we find 39 adults and 45 children. Afterwards, the St. Matthew Cemetery, in the Saint-Jean district, would be used for protestant burials until 1860."
Continuing, "The American general Richard Montgomery would have been buried in the Port St Louis cemetery following his death December 31, 1775. However, his burial does not appear in the protestant registers of Quebec."
There is more to discover about the burial of Richard Montgomery, his aides and his men in the interpretative and memorial plaques on the present day site and photographed here. At the request of his widow, his remains were later removed to the Trinity Church of New York City (see pictures).
