On 29th November, 1867, a number of the members at the United Methodist Free Church, Hanover Street, opened a chapel in Albert Place (now Clarence Street). It was originally known as Nimmo's Chapel, from the fact of the Rev. David Nimmo ministering there. The premises were re-built in 1881. There are no visible memorials or headstones.
