Milton Crisman
Milton Crisman, a prominent and well-to-do resident of Portage Township, this county, died Tuesday afternoon at his home near McCool.
About a month ago while driving across the E. J. & E. railway on the way to his son's home Mr. Crisman's rig was run into by a train, the buggy being demolished and he being injured. It was thought at the time that a broken leg was the worst injury he had sustained, but it developed soon afterwards that he was hurt internally. He steadily grew worse until Tuesday when it was decided to perform an operation upon him. He passed away just as the attending physicians were about to begin the operation.
The deceased was born in Carroll county, Ohio, March 12, 1847, and had come to this county with his parents in 1850 and settled on a farm in Portage township. In the 70's for two years he was a contractor on the Michigan Central and the B & O roads, after which he took up farming.
He was married on June 5, 1878, to Sarah A., daughter of Benjamin Fifield, who survives him together with three sons and one daughter.
The deceased was one of the Republican leaders in his township, and held several offices in that township.
The funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock from the McCool church, conducted by Rev. Chivington, of Wheeler.
