Sgt. Dodson was employed at the Al Burrus Training Center in Forsyth as a corrections officer. Sgt. Dodson was a member of the Georgia Army National Guard 48th Brigade Combat Team. He was assigned to the Headquarters Company of the 148th Support Battalion, had been stationed at Camp Stryker near Baghdad International Airport, but he had recently been reassigned to a forward mobile unit. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1981 to 1985 and a graduate of Mary Persons High School.
