He was married on August 11, 1889 in Humphreys County to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Stewart (1870-1943), the daughter of Elisha Stewart and Lucinda (Dickerson) Stewart.
A retired farmer, he was a widower, 86 years old and living at 710 Hart Avenue, Nashville when he died at home of a coronary thrombosis on February 8, 1952. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery, Davidson County.
