Kathryn Finn, 91, of Marinette, WI peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2014. She was born April 13, 1923, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Emil and Martha (nee Olson) Hemmingsen.

Kathryn spent her early life in Cambridge, Minn. before moving to Superior, Wis. in 1941, during her senior year of high school. Kathryn graduated from Superior Central High School where she met her future husband, Velvie E. Finn.

They were married on November 18, 1944, while Vel was still serving in the Army Air Corps and briefly resided in Texas. The couple returned to Superior after Vel’s discharge from military service, remaining there while he completed his education. During those years, Kathryn worked in a local bank.

In 1953, Kathryn and Vel moved to Beloit, Wis. and in 1969, came to Marinette, where they since resided. In Beloit, Kathryn had been employed as a secretary by the Beloit School District. She was actively vested in church work here and in Beloit and was a longtime member of Grace Community Church in Marinette where she served in numerous capacities over the years. Motivated by a deep love for the Lord Jesus, Kathryn was able to devote time to her husband and family while sharing that love with the world as a missionary to everyone she met.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Velvie, with whom she celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past November;
three children: Paul (Diane) Finn of Holcombe, Wis., Susan (Terry) Stavn of Beloit, Wis. and Constance Finn of Marinette;
six grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, Adam, Jason, Dana and Nathaniel;
eight great-grandchildren;
a sister, Joan (Bruce) Carlsgaard of Indiana; and beloved pets, Bella and Grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Hemmingsen.
