She was born on April 23, 1930 on the family farm in Burnettsville to Frank and Tillie (McLeland) Fisher. They preceded her in death.
She was a 1948 graduate of Burnettsville High School.
On Sept. 9, 1950, she married James T. Duffey in Burnettsville. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2004.
Jim and Martha were a practically inseparable pair throughout their 54-year marriage. Whether touring ancient castles in Ireland while on a trip to the United Kingdom, or listening to Harry Caray call a Cubs game on WGN from the comfort of their front-yard swing in Burnettsville, Jim and Martha were happy simply because they were together.
Martha was a dedicated homemaker. Her life's work, and greatest joy, was raising her four sons in the home she and Jim shared on Washington Street. Martha showed that same devotion to her 10 grandchildren and was their biggest fan - delighting in all of their successes and accomplishments.
She was a former member of the Eastlawn United Methodist Church in Idaville.
She loved to quilt, sewing together colorful creations to be shared with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosiers, and was a staunch supporter of Democrat Party politics.
