Tractor Upsets,
John Palmer Dies
John Hagan Palmer, 68, of New Freeport, R.D. 1, was killed Wednesday afteroon when a tractor he was using to clear a right-of-way along Robert's Run near Pine Bank overturned, pinning him beneath it. The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m.
He had been a supervisor in Gilmore Township and township constable for 18 years. At the time of his death he was a deputy sheriff under Mark Shultz.
He was born November 9, 1900, at Hero, near Jollytown, a son of the late John B. and Rose Hixenbaugh Palmer. His wife, Sarah Morris Palmer, survives.
Mr. Palmer was a member of the Jollytown Methodist Church and was a trustee of the church, and trustee of the Dunkard Valley Gun Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John Palmer, Jr., of Marano, Ariz.; one grandson, Johnny; one sister, Mrs. Emma Dint, of Washington and one nephew.
