Frank Andrew Pauley, 79, of Forest Hills, husband of Mary Lou Pinson Pauley, died Wednesday in Appalachian Regional Hospital. He retired from Detroit Diesel, Romulus, Mich. Also surviving are three sons, Danny Cooper Pauley of Detroit and David Bruce Pauley and Dwight Andrew Pauley, both of Forest Hills; and one brother, Joseph Edward Pauley of Lawndale, N.C. Funeral 1 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Forest Hills; burial in Pauley-Varney Cemetery, Forest Hills. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home.

Frank entered the Army in 1939, and received his training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, and Fort Custer, Michigan. He later spent twenty months in Iceland, three months in England, and some time in Northern Ireland. At the time of his enlistment, he was a student at Belfry High School. He served on the front lines in several battles and was awarded three purple hearts. He was one of five brothers who served in World War II.
