Marie Bass
February 7, 1921 - July 19, 2015

Marie Bingham Bass was born February 7, 1921 in Young County, Texas to Wilkerson and LuVina (Elliot) Bingham. She married Harvey Lee Bass on July 24, 1946, in Crosbyton, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Bass moved to Muleshoe from Aspermont, Texas in 1948 during a sandstorm. They were active members of Muleshoe Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling to church meetings and conducting singing schools in Texas and Oklahoma. They owned Harvey Bass Appliance and Furniture in Muleshoe and were active in building businesses and the community. Working together throughout their married life, she always said, “And we enjoyed it! We had fun!”. Marie was an accomplished seamstress and a gifted cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolia Johnson and husband Ron of Aledo, Texas, Vina Strayhorn and husband Thomas of Snyder, Texas, one sister, Stella Fay Brints of Lubbock, Texas, five grandchildren, Julie Johnson Winchester and husband Michael of Washington, Oklahoma, Eric Johnson and wife Joyce of Buda, Texas, Ellen Strayhorn Musallam and husband Hisham of Plano, Texas, Carol Strayhorn Rowell and husband Mark of Fort Worth, Texas, and David Strayhorn and wife Katie of Amarillo, Texas. Also surviving are fourteen great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Winchester, John Winchester, Carolyn Winchester Baker and husband Brett, James Winchester and wife Emily, Rebecca Winchester, Emilyne Winchester, Eva Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Grace Johnson, Maya Musallam, David Musallam, Graham Rowell, Kathryn Rowell Howard and husband Seth, and Sarah Rowell and one great-great-grandchild, Leighton Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey in 2007, two brothers Wilborn and Edd Bingham and one sister Geletta Bingham Harvey. Great Grandson Brian Jacob Winchester.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 20, 2015, from 6 PM to 7 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 2 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Interment will be at Snyder Cemetery.

The family suggests donations be made to Snyder Primitive Baptist Church, 3101 Beaumont Avenue, Snyder, Texas, 79549.
