Mr. Flattum was predeceased by his wife, Theldine Grimsley Flattum.
He is survived by children, Teri Walsh and her husband, Allen, Arliss Kastner and her husband, Lee, Allen Grimsley and his wife Ann, Paula Mason, Allie Grandy, Alfred Flattum and Darryl Flattum; six grandchildren, Brett Walsh, and Chelsea Walsh, Richie Osborne and his wife Liz, Stacey Eaton and her husband Landon, Laura Grimsley, Jolene Smith and her husband Steve; and a great-grandson Jacoby Osborne.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm in Nansemond River Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Suffolk. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to Hope Haven.
