He was married to Susan Elizabeth Bunkall (1879-195), the daughter of Robert Armstrong Blunkall (1855–1945) and his wife Laura Ann (Kinsey) Blunkall (ca 1862– ).
A streetcar motorman living at 5501 Pennsylvania Avenue, Nashville, he was 60 years old and married when he died of of tuberculous meningitis and lobar pneumonia on January 22, 1939 at Nashville General Hospital. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
