The son of the late Hugh and Lavina (Moore) Livingston was born in Ingersoll Township March 11, 1920, and was a graduate of Midland High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Don was employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until his retirement in 1982 after 41 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, enjoyed deer hunting, traveling, woodworking, gardening and pets, especially his dogs.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, the former Alpha I. Blodgett who he married Nov. 22, 1945; his children, Philip Livingston of Interlochen, Lee (Betty) Livingston of Bellaire, Marilynn (John) Lefler of Midland, Maxine (Jerry) Myers of Hemlock and Clifford Livingston of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Nick, Erik and Vince; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren, Daniel, John, Robert and Roger Livingston; and sisters, Beatrice Emery, Elsie Livingston, Dorothy Lashuay, Florence Lowry and Katie Mapes.
Funeral services for Don will take place 11 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd., Midland. The Rev. Dr. J. D. Landis will officiate. Interment will follow in Homer Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
