Emma Catherine Hosey was the daughter of John Garrison & Susan Frances Hufham Hosey. She married Robert Allen Lanier in March 1926 in Jefferson Co., AL.

I had my second telephone interview with Catherine on the 9 Mar 2002. I asked her questions that I had ask in our previous conversation for clarification. She could not remember her ex-husband's birthdate or their marriage date. They were divorced years ago, and I did want want to get into that too much.
She told me that her father, John Garrison Hosey, did co-own the Hosey Haberdashery (gentlemen's clothing store), and he probably sold out. He began traveling and selling men's clothing. The family moved from Birmingham to Ramer, a small town near Montgomery. They were only there for two or three years and moved back to Birmingham. She told me that the move to Ramer took place when she was very young probably around 1921. This would mean that the Haberdashery opened between 1915 and 1921 and was then sold. Catherine did not know why he sold the stores (one in Ensley and the other in
Fairfield]. She only remembered the store in Fairfield, but Ensley is close to Fairfield.
Catherine said her father started his political career soon after their return to Birmingham. He eventually became the Registrar of Jefferson County and later the Constable.
Catherine lived in Florence for over 20 years.
Update on 5/24/2002: Helen, Catherine's daughter, told me that moved from her house to a nursing home at Mitchell Hollingsworth on Flagg Circle in Florence.
