For a short time before meeting her husband, she moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked as a cook at the Downer College.
She and August settled in Pound, WI and celebrated 73 years of marriage before his death in 2015. {married November 1, 1942}
Edna and August had a deep appreciation for their land, growing organic vegetables such as dill, corn, cucumbers and squash, and selling them at local markets. Her beautifully embellished Christmas wreaths were sold at Green Bay supermarkets. Edna catered many banquets and weddings in the area, including an all-vegetarian wedding for 600 people. She was also known for baking and decorating wedding cakes as well. She oversaw the kitchen at the First Baptist Church in Pound for many years. For 67 years, Edna also taught Sunday school at her church.
Edna is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Borkowski (Robert Ertel) of Green Bay, WI and many friends who remember Edna for her garden-to-table devotion to serving others.
In addition to her husband, August, she is preceded in death by her siblings: John, Molly Lentz, Gottlieb, Fred, Eddie, Alice Badora, Emma Watson, Emil and Albert.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Coleman. Visitation will continue Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Pound from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Church.
