In 1913 he commissioned architects Sylvanus Marston and Garrett Van Pelt to build an opulent home on nine acres in Pasadena, California. The house, dubbed Arden Villa, would become familiar during the 1980s as the Carrington estate on the hit television series 'Dynasty'.
