LERONA - Eva E. Gwinn, 84, of Phillips Personal Care Center in Lerona, a former resident of 1113 Ritchie St. in Princeton, died Thursday at a Princeton hospital.
Born in Meadow Creek, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Virgie Mae Richmond Gwinn. She was retired, having worked for 42 years in Mercer County Schools, with 35 years as a teacher at Mercer Elementary School and earned her degree in education from Concord College. She was preceded in death by a brother, James G. Gwinn, and sisters, Gladys G. Powell, Alfreda G. McCoy and Juanita Gwinn.
Survivors: sisters, Mrs. Dinty (Garnet) Moore and Mildred G. Bishop, both of Princeton; a nephew, Dr. William Powell of Macon Ga.; and nieces Teda Houchins, of Baytown, Texas, and Nancy Tompkins of Washington, D.C.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton, with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Friends may call at George W. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 214-15 Law & Commerce Building, Bluefield, 24701. Those attending the service are asked to be at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Monday.
