Linda Adelia Ness, 96, formerly of Cloquet, passed away peacefully at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, Minn., on Monday, June 18, 2007. Linda was born in Sacred Heart, Minn., on Dec. 28, 1910 to Rev. Andrew and Laura (Larson) Ness. She graduated from high school in Westby, Montana. Linda retired as Senior Home Advisor from Minnesota Power & Light Company in 1973 after 38 years of service. She loved to tell stories; especially of her life as a young girl and of her father, a Lutheran Minister, and her family as they traveled between parishes on the prairies in North Dakota and Canada. Linda lived with her three sisters, and they were known as 'the Ness girls'. They loved to entertain. Linda especially loved spending time at her cabin on Big Sandy Lake. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Andrew and Laura Ness; her sisters, Jane Ness, Esther Ness, Ruth Alstad; and her brother, Curtis Ness. She is survived by her nephews, Jim (Glenna) Alstad and his sons, Jason (Jenny Jerome), Brett and Matt Alstad, all of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Jim Ness of Bozeman, Mont.; nieces, Marilyn Alstad of Bennington, Vt., Bobbie (Mike) Gessuale of Billings, Mont., Lorraine (Bob) Demming of Great Falls, Mont. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given to Linda at Diamond Willow, a home she truly loved. VISITATION:3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007 until the 4 p.m. memorial service in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, Minn. Inurnment services will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Cloquet, followed with a reception in the fellowship room at the funeral home.
