Funeral Services Will Be Held At Home of Dr. A.W. Ralls.

The Rev. Hamilton Blount Ralls, 79, died at the Ralls Sanitarium here at 1:45 o'clock Thursday morning as the result of a broken hip at his home at Piedmont October 26. He had been in the hospital since the day of the accident, his age making it impossible for him to recover.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Dr. A.W. Ralls at 10 o'clock Friday morning and the burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be the sons of the deceased and his grandson, A.W. Ralls, Jr.
The service at the home and at the grave will be conducted by Rev. J.B. Robertson, of Guntersville, who will be assisted by Rev. W. F. Price, of Gadsden.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Emma Ralls, and the following children: Dr. A.W. Ralls, Gadsden; Hamilton Blount Ralls, Jr., Hogansville, Georgia; Lacy P. Ralls, Gadsden; Mrs. Martha Philips; Mrs. O.W. Freeman, Gadsden; Mrs. Louise Gallant, Albany, Georgia; Miss Emma Ralls, Joseph R. Ralls, Gadsden; John H. Ralls, Shelby, N.C. and Frank C. Ralls, Birmingham.
Mr. Ralls was born in Leesburg in Cherokee County July 20, 1851. He was the son of the late Dr. John Hector Ralls and Agnes Hamilton Ralls. His father was one of the most distinguished citizens of North Alabama and was widely known throughout the South.
Mr. Ralls studied under the Burlesons at the University of Texas at Waco, and later took a theological course at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, Ky. He was a Methodist minister for 20 years and was superannuated 19 years ago. He was postmaster at Piedmont during both of President Wilson's administrations.
Of distinguished lineage and with a background of culture, Mr. Ralls was a man who commanded the respect and the admiration of all who met him. He was a brilliant man and was one of the most forceful of preachers. His death will cause widespread sorrow throughout the northeastern section of Alabama.

Hamilton Blount Ralls married Alice Gray Williams Nov. 17, 1875 in Coryell County, Texas. In 1880 H.B. and Alice lived in Coryell, Texas. A son, A.W., was born in Texas in 1881 and a daughter, Agnes, was born most likely in Alabama since the infants grave is in Forrest Cemetery, Gadsden, AL. In St. Clair Co., AL on Oct. 12, 1886, Hamilton B. married Emma Williams. She died March 23, 1908 in a Gadsden hospital which was established by her step-son, A.W. Ralls, Sr. The Rev. Hamilton B. was a widower for a while and then June 19, 1912, he married Emma Gore, a school teacher, in Calhoun Co., Alabama. This widow, Emma Gore Ralls, died Dec. 24, 1950 in Anniston, Alabama and is buried in Edgemont Cemetery.
