Emma E. Burgesser, widow of John Edgar Burgesser, died at her home in Smithsburg at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 4th, of complications, after an illness or one year, aged 78 years and four months. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Burns, and was born near Smithsburg and had resided in Smithsburg for the last fifty-eight years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Smithsburg and of the Ladies Mite Society.
She is survived by these children: Mrs. W. D. Albin, Rohrersville; Miss Mary E., at home; C. Lester, Cavetown; Lloyd C., Baltimore; J. Berkeley, Charleston W.Va., and Herbert F. Burgesser, at sea; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Mrs. Arbelia Becker, and brother, Charles B. Burns, ,both of Martinsburg, W.Va. and a number of nieces aud nephews also survive.

The remains may be viewed at her late residence Thursday from seven until nine p.m.
Funeral services at the house Friday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Donald R. Stonesifer, her pastor. Interment in Smithsburg ccmetery.
