Rev. H.P.Heisey held services at the Ritchie home in Butman Township for Benjamin Ritchie Tuesday, January 1, at 2 p.m. Burial service were held at Highland Cemetery at Gladwin.

Benjamin Ritchie, son of Oliver and Mary Ritchie, was born December 26, 1868, in Frontenac, Ontario, Canada and died December 29, 1934, after a illness of about five months at his home in Butman Township. He was 66 years and three days old.
When 10 years old he moved with his parents to Sanilac County where he lived six years. From Sanilac County they moved to Alpena, where they lived eight years. He lived eight years in Bay City where, at the age of 26, he married Miss Anna Kinch. Five children were born to them.
Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie then moved to Gladwin County and located on a farm in Butman Township, where he lived until his death.
Surviving him are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Brown of Gladwin and Ida at home, three sons, William Ritchie of Alpena, Floyd of Flint, and Vern at home, five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Catherine Huffman of Ontario, Canada, three brothers, William and Howard of Ontario, Canada and John of Gladwin, half-sister Nellie Ritchie of Detrot and half-brother Oliver of Ocqueoc.
