Youngest child of William W. and Lucina R. Gilbert Wagar. When he was fairly young, Edwin and his family (minus his mother who died in 1874) moved to Richardson County, Nebraska. His grandmother, Speda M. Tyler Gilbert, also moved with the family to Nebraska and took care of the children and the Wagar home. Edwin held a number of different jobs. He met Nellie Maude Blunt while working on a farm in Kansas. They were married on May 10, 1903 at Stroud, Oklahoma. Eventually they moved out west to Missoula and then Washington. They had five children born in less than five years. Edwin worked at the Bonner saw mill for a number of years and finally retired to the ranch where their daughter Helen lived with her husband Andrew Iverson in Petroleum County, Montana.
