US Congressman. In 1825, he moved to Williamson County Tennessee, where he taught school for several years, then moved to Giles County and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was justice of the peace in 1840 and a member of the Tennessee State House of Representatives, (1851-52). In 1853, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress and served until 1855. He declined to be a candidate for re-nomination, resumed his agricultural pursuits and served in the Tennessee State Senate, (1871-72). (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
