Susannah Hart Shannon b. 20 March 1791 d. 13 January 1868 md. 1) James McDowell 18 Nov. 1809 in Lincoln Co., Kentucky; md. 2nd James Shannon (brother of George Shannon/Lewis and Clark Expedition, lawyer and judge and also brother of Ohio Gov. Wilson Shannon and other prominent brothers) on 20 Nov. 1824 in Lincoln Co., Kentucky. Susan, a niece and James Shannon were enroute to Guatemala, Mexico to become Charge de Affairs -when James and Susan's niece became ill and died before reaching Guatemala; Susan then married John McKinney b. 1791 16 Sept 1834-he died in Versailles, Woodford, Ky. in 1835. Her last husband, James Fishback, b. 4 Feb. 1776 d. 26 June 1845 -she married 8 Jun 1841. Died a Fishbank...never marrying again and to my knowledge she never had children. Living with her in 1850 in Fayette Co., Ky. is a Sarah P/F. Shelby aged 20, Susan Fishback is 58, and in household they live in is HOH Jane Epperson 36 b. Ky, and Epperson chn.Mary 16; Thomas 12; William 8; Jane Faley 74 b. Va. and Susan Fishback 58 b.Ky; and Susan P?F? Shelby aged 20. No occupations, but Susan Fishback with 8,000 and Susan Shelby with $25,000. No relationship to anyone shown. Susan would die of course before the next census was taken...A woman with much fortitude, and plenty of sorrow...God Rest Her Soul.
