DUNCAN — Feb. 22, 1939 — July 13, 2011

Earl Jack McClennen, 72, of Duncan went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 16th at 10 a.m. at Fair Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12-7 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack was born Feb. 22, 1939 in Comanche to Earl and Murray McClennen. Jack rodeoed and calf roped in his early days. He graduated from Empire High School, and attended Cameron University. Jack retired from Haliburton after 27 years of service at the truck shop, and was supervisor of production on off shore vessels. From there he went on to develop his love of horse racing and ranching. His values were family and horses. Jack was active in all aspects in his hobby- breeding, and breaking horses. He won many races and was well known throughout Oklahoma for his accomplishments. Jack was known for saying "I can not tell you if a horse can run just by looking at it, but I can tell you if he can't." He and Joyce Askins were united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1958 at Duncan.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce, of the home; his sister, Julie Bacon and husband James, Comanche; brothers: Ronald McClennen and wife Rosalie, Comanche; his twin brother, Mack McClennen, Duncan, and Dan McClennen, El Paso, Texas; his children: Troy and wife Madonna, Raceland, La., Karyn of Edmond, and Sharyn, of Duncan; and Billy Wright and wife Janet, Comanche; grandchildren: Tanner and Meranda McClennen, Marlow; Connie Grant, Ardmore; Kassidy Brinkley, Garrett Taylor and Jennifer Underhill, all of Edmond; and Derek and Cody Plaisance, Raceland, La; one great-grandson Jameson Brinkley, Edmond.

Jack loved Chisolm Trail Cowboy Church. He accepted Jesus as his Savior several years ago. Jack enjoyed going to his special church and relished his friendships from there.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Kathy McClennen.
