SABINA GROGAN SUCCUMBS TO HEART DISEASE
Mother of Twelve Children Claimed By Last Earthly Sleep.
An illness of several years duration was ended at an early hour this morning when death claimed the life of Mrs. Sabina Grogan at her home 310 N. Statton St. Her condition was deemed serious for many months but not until last evening did she succumb to the sate in which death took her today. Her demise was attributed to heart trouble. One of the most dearly loved residents of the northern part of the city her passing has caused heart felt sadness in hundreds of homes. As both neighbor and friends she endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact and whenever she was able she took an active part in church work being associated with the Altar Society of the Immaculate Conception church.
She was the daughter of Thomas and Nellie Branan and was born in County Mayo Ireland on April 24, 1851. Fifty-six years ago she was united in marriage with John Grogan coming to this country shortly after she resided in this community during the entire time this country was her home and was here that her twelve children were born, eight of whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death twenty-three years ago. Those children living are Thomas of Lost Wood N. Dak., Patrick of Joliet, Dr. John Grogan, of Watena, Minn., Dr. Edward Grogan of Galesburgh, Hugh and James of Oak Park, Ill., and Della and Joseph at home.
Final funeral arrangements have not been made as word from the sons in the west is being awaited, but it is probable that services will be held on Saturday morning from the Immaculate Conception Church at nine o'clock with burial the the St. Mary's cemetery.
