Mary Ann P. Ilgenfritz was born in Maryland on June 14, 1869, the daughter of Charles and Matilde Emswayler Ilgenfritz. On March 20, 1889, in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland, she married Milton Van Buren Miller, son of Jacob and Julia Ann Six Miller. They were the parents of 11 children: Matilda Ilgenfritz, Caroline Rebecca, Mary Blanche, Russell M., John A., Julia Ann, Myrtle Mae, Earl Van Buren, Ray Leroy, Margaret P. and Lucy Catherine Miller.



From the Frederick Post of Wednesday Morning, June 15, 1927:

"Union Bridge, June 14.---On Saturday evening, Mrs. Milton Miller, of Keymar, was given a surprise by her children at her home, it being her birthday. All were invited to a large table spread in the open airand filled with all the good things of the season. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Milton Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Boone, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Shawsburg(sic), Jr., Mr. and Mrs. John E.(sic) Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Boone. Misses Julia Miller, Margaret Miller, Ethel Ilgenfritz, Martha Ilgenfritz, Oneda Myers, Katheryne Boone, Russell Eichenbrode, Earl and Ray Miller, little Miss Lucy Miller, Mary Boone, Isabelle Boone, Ellouise Strawsburg, Jeanette Boone and Helen Mae Boone; Masters David and Donald Boone. Mrs. Miller received many gifts. On Sunday, June 12, Mr and Mrs. Miller entertained at dinner and supper the same persons, all later attending the Children's Day services at Haugh's Church."

"BIRTHDAY PARTY. A surprise birthday celebration honoring the 80th birthday of Mrs. Mary A. Miller was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Boone in Union Bridge on June 12. A delicious dinner was served atnoon. A four-tier birthday cake baked by a granddaughter, Mrs. Clifford Beard, was cut and served by Mrs. Russell Eigenbrode. Those present were her children: Mrs. William Boone of Westminster; Mrs. John Strawsburg of Union Bridge; Mr. and Mrs. John Boone, Union Bridge; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Eigenbrode, Thurmont; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gaver, Union Bridge; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Beard, Sykesville; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wachter, Keymar; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Leister, Westminster; Mr. and Mrs. John David Boone, Detour; Margaret Leanna, Ruth, Patsy Boone, Doris Eigenbrode, Janet Weinner (Wimmer), Nancy and Franklin Gaver; great-grandchildren, Helen Louise Beard, Shirley, Joyce, Geraldine Brenda Wachter, Geneva and Robert Boone, Shyron and John Carroll Leister. Callers later in the day were Rev. R. S. Poffenbarger, Mr. and Mrs. William Long, Ladiesburg; Mr. and Mrs. Keefer Martz, Keymar, Mrs. Frank Harbaugh, Middleburg; Mrs. John Rentzel, Middleburg. Mrs. Miller was the recipient of numerous cards and gifts."

"Mrs. Mary Ann Miller, widow of Milton V. Miller, died Thursday evening at 6:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Boone, UnionBridge. Aged 85 years, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Matilde Emswayler Ilgenfritz. She was a lifelong member of Haugh's Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Her husband died 17 years ago. She had been infailing health since last June and very ill since September. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. William Boone, Westminster; Mrs. John Strawsburg, Union Bridge; Mrs. John Boone, Union Bridge; Mrs. Russell Eigenbrode, Thurmont; Mrs. Elmer Boone, Linwood; Ray Miller, Keymar; Mrs. Millard Wimmer, Westminster; Mrs. Frank Gaver, Union Bridge; 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, George H. Ilgenfritz, Morgantown, New Jersey, and a sister, Mrs. Tillie B.Frock, York, Pennsylvania. A number of nephews and nieces also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at Haugh's Mt. Zion Church, Rev. Raymond C. Myers officiating. Burial inchurch cemetery. Her body is resting at the funeral home where friends may call Saturday evening until nine o'clock at night. The body will be removed to the church on Sunday, where friends may call from 12 o'clock until time of services at one o'clock. C. O. Fuss and Son, funeral directors."
