Some of her favorite times were spent enjoying music, fishing, putting together jigsaw puzzles, growing and tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She took great pride in her part of keeping the Chitimacha culture alive through creating tribal bead work and worked for many years for Cypress Bayou Casino, until her health wouldn't allow it anymore. She passed away at the age of 57 in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 25, 2017, at New Iberia Manor North. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her four children, Brian Darden and his wife Cathy Darden of Charenton, Maxine Darden Sanchez and her husband Pavel Sanchez of Lafayette, Scottie Black and his fiancé Emmie Poirrier of Charenton, and Tiffany Darden of Charenton; ten grandchildren, Alysha and Paige Darden, Jose and Miguel Sanchez, Isabella Palma, Isaac Black, Kyle and Caleb Darden, Lance Jr. and Madi Dardar; six siblings, Huey Darden Jr., John Paul Darden Sr., Patrick Darden, Glenn LaRive, Paula Darden, and Melissa Darden; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Alcide P. "Lil Rebel" Darden; her parents, Huey Paul Darden Sr. and Mary Aline Cole Darden; her brothers, Billy Wayne Darden (infant) and Bobby Ray Darden; and nephews, Kerry Ty Martin (infant) and Eric Brown.
