Ruth Wakefield, 91, Robinson, Illinois, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, at her residence.
Born in Oblong Twp., Crawford County on October 29, 1916, she was the daughter of Grover Osborn and Blanche Thompson. She was a self employed beautician. She was a member of the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church; and Katherine Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Ruth graduated from Oblong High School - Class of 1934 and was a graduate of Beauty Culture School, Paris, Illinois. She enjoyed crocheting; sewing; playing piano and singing.
On November 16, 1935, she married Roger Wakefield, who preceded her in death on December 27, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, James & Basil Osborn; two sisters, one infant and Ruby Jane Pederson; brother-in-law, Andy Pederson and sister-in-law, Mary K. Osborn.
Survivors include one daughter, Joanie Wakefield; four grandchildren, Curtis, Jason, Kevin and April Garrard; one great-granddaughter, Shaley Garrard; one sister-in-law, Lucy Osborn; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Kirk Chapel, rural Robinson, Illinois.
